What it is – What it offers
Liposuction with modern and safe techniques
Liposuction is an effective surgical method aimed at removing stubborn localised fat from specific areas of the body. It is not a weight-loss method; rather, the purpose of the procedure is to reduce fat that is resistant to diet and exercise, contributing to symmetry and harmony of the body — for both women and men. To achieve a result tailored to each patient, two advanced and safe techniques are applied: P.A.L. (Power Assisted) liposuction and High Definition liposuction.
The procedure targets the harmonious reshaping of the body's contour, tailored to the needs of each patient. It offers meaningful benefits in the following cases:
Localised fat accumulationAddresses stubborn fat that does not respond to other methods.
Disrupted fat distributionRestores proportionality and symmetry to the lines of the body.
Contour irregularitiesCorrects contour irregularities that have arisen following previous surgical procedures.
Revealing muscle definitionAllows the surgeon to accentuate and highlight the underlying muscles for a more athletic appearance (High Definition).

Application zones
Areas where liposuction can be applied
The treatment can be applied individually or in combination across multiple points of the body:
Neck (double chin — jaw and neck contour)
Arms and lateral back
Abdomen and flanks
Thighs, buttocks, knees, calves and ankles
Chest (treatment of gynaecomastia in men)

Preparation before surgery
Preparation before surgery
Patient safety is a key priority. At the initial consultation, Dr. Athanasios Pallantzas assesses skin elasticity and the thickness of the subcutaneous fat, establishing the plan and the areas to be sculpted. Preparation for surgery includes a full pre-operative assessment, a recommendation to stop smoking and adjustment of any medication (if required). On the day of surgery, the patient must be fasting.

The 2 liposuction methods
01
Pre-operative Planning (Marking)
Dr. Pallantzas carries out a detailed mapping of the areas to be treated with the patient in a standing position. This stage is critical, as the "topographic maps" of the fat are recorded as they are influenced by gravity, supporting symmetry throughout the surgery. General or local anaesthesia then follows, depending on the extent and volume of fat to be removed.
02
P.A.L. Liposuction (Power Assisted Lipo)
Incisions: The surgeon creates minimal incisions that rarely exceed 3 mm.
Fat Removal: Using a specialised device that moves the cannula in a rapid oscillating motion, the fat cells are isolated and removed with precision. P.A.L. technology aims for reduced tissue trauma, fewer bruises and less swelling.
03
High Definition Liposuction
Combination of Technologies: This method combines the oscillating cannula (P.A.L.) with the use of specialised technologies such as radiofrequency.
Incisions: The cannulas are even finer, meaning the incisions are very discreet — approximately 1 mm.
Body Sculpting: Although the procedure is more time-intensive, it allows the plastic surgeon to sculpt the body with greater naturalness, uncovering and accentuating the muscles of the treated area.
Procedure profile
Liposuction at a glance
Duration of surgery
Varies depending on the extent and number of areas treated.
Anaesthesia
General or local anaesthesia, depending on the extent
Hospital stay
No overnight stay is required. For large volumes of fat or multiple areas, a single night's stay may be considered for safety.
Pain
Mild; described as intense post-exercise muscle soreness. Managed with simple pain relief.
Suitable season
No restrictions — applicable throughout the year.
Result
The first results are immediately visible; the final result stabilises within 3 to 6 months, once swelling has subsided.
Age range
From adolescence (15–16 years) through to 65+, with the key criteria being good skin elasticity and the patient's general health.
After Surgery
What to expect after liposuction — Recovery
01
Compression Support
The patient will need to wear a specialised elastic compression garment (girdle) over the treated area for approximately 6 weeks.
02
Normal Symptoms
Oedema (swelling), ecchymosis (bruising) and mild localised numbness are expected occurrences that subside gradually over the following weeks.
03
Return to Work
For limited areas, return to office work is immediate (within 1–2 days). For more extensive procedures, 3 to 5 days of rest may be required.
04
Post-operative Care
Specialised post-operative massage (e.g. lymphatic drainage) is recommended after the first two weeks, to accelerate the reduction of swelling and support a smooth result.
Personalised Approach
Results
Before & After — Liposuction.
Representative liposuction results. Each outcome is individualised based on anatomy, degree of fat accumulation and patient wishes.
Results are usually long-lasting, provided that a balanced diet and regular exercise are maintained. Localised fat is not expected to return to the treated area, although weight gain can affect the result.
Liposuction is not measured in kilograms but in volume loss. The difference is visual and becomes evident in centimetres, clothing sizes and the overall harmony of the silhouette.
Skin behaviour depends directly on its pre-operative elasticity. In younger patients with good elasticity, the skin has the natural ability to contract and adapt to the new, slimmer contour. In cases where mild laxity already exists, Dr. Pallantzas applies the High Definition (HD) Liposuction technique, in which the use of thermal energy (radiofrequency) stimulates collagen production, achieving simultaneous skin tightening. If the laxity is very significant, liposuction is strategically combined with skin-removal procedures such as abdominoplasty or thigh lift.
