An aesthetic, reconstructive surgery, aiming to restore one or both breasts after a mastectomy.

Breast Reconstruction goals

- To restore one or both breast to near normal shape, appearance symmetry and size following mastectomy.
- To achieve better patient’s psychology.

Incision

The incision varies depending on the type of patient’s mastectomy.

Cost

The cost is estimated on a case-by-case basis (implant type).

Procedure

The plastic surgeon supports every patient individually, as they both decide together her reconstruction plan based in two characteristics, her mastectomy and her body type.

Breast reconstruction can be in a single surgery or in multiple operations, with placement of a breast implant or tissue expander.

Stages include:

Placement of a tissue expander under the skin or pectoral muscle on patient’s chest skin to make room for the breast implant. Over the next weeks or months, the doctor is filling the balloon in stages. This gradual process allows the skin to stretch over time.

Remove tissue expander and replace it with a permanent implant, which is placed in the same place as the tissue expander.
