Blepharoplasty is a surgical rejuvenating procedure performed to correct excess skin, deformities and abnormalities of the eyelids that appear over time or from other causes.
Blepharoplasty goals
• Removes excess upper eyelid skin
• Corrects bags under the eyes, either fatty deposits or muscle relaxation
• Improves eyes shape
• Smoothes wrinkles
Procedure
In blepharoplasty, eyelid skin and fat are removed and redistributed. The underlying muscle is strengthened and it also restores the functional and aesthetic effect.
Upper lids: An upper blepharoplasty may include excision of drooping eyelid skin, repair of the muscle that open the eyes and removal of excess fat.
Lower lids: A lower blepharoplasty corrects lower eyelid problems, usually bags, excess skin and wrinkles.
Simultaneous upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty is often recommended.
Incision
The upper eyelid incision runs along the natural crease of the eyelid and is almost invisible. The lower eyelid incision is made between the skin and the mucous membrane and is almost invisible.
Cost
The cost is estimated on a case-by-case basis.
